Due to unknown reason, in rare cases, the CPU could be lockup into a "Safe Mode", which result in a situation that the printer will able to be detected by computer but unable to respond to any commands eg. initialization. Here we provide a CPU Utility program to reset the CPU back to normal.
1. Connect printer to computer with USB and switch on power.
2. Open the CPU Utility program without opening the printing software.
3. Click the "Get system info" button and see if you get something like "Safe Mode".
4. Click "Reset Functions" see if you can initialize again.
If the CPU cannot be rescued by the method described above, then it could be due to other problems like physical damage by static charge and etc, which CPU may need to be replaced.

I've tried the method that you described, but when I click "get system info" button, this message appears:
Can’t get system info from printer

I also get that same message. I know my Cable is good because i can print to a regular printer with it.
If you get " Can’t get system info from printer, Please check USB connection" this is usually due to mainboard or CPU malfunction and need to be replaced
How can I do this on a mac?
Sorry the tool is not available on Mac so far. You need to borrow a Windows machine to use it.

I have been experiencing this problem too. The printer will not initialize.
When I click you link for the CPU utility it won't download. It says the file has been moved.
Could you please send me the CPU Utility?
